1) Don’t micro manage:

Hire well and trust your judgment that they’ll do a great job. It’s insulting and demeaning to micro   manage your people.

 

2) Tell ‘em why:

Don’t just tell people to do something without giving the “why”. What are the risks or benefits?

 

3) Run tight meetings:

Have an agenda and stick to it. Facilitate the meeting and keep people on track. Use emails ahead of time to explain agenda items. Lots can be done via email that ends up bogging down meetings.

 

4) Have an open door policy: 

It’s a win-win to have open communications and being available is critical.
